The first season of "Avatar: The Last Airbender" was a welcome surprise with its memorable characters and stunning animation. As before, the answer is an overwhelming yes.

Poised for quite a number of episodes (seen in previous volumes) to go to war against the tyrannical Fire Nation, Aang the young Avatar and his cohorts must now bring down the Fire Lord and his army, or watch them ramp up their destructive powers during an imminent solar eclipse. But there's a lingering question only Aang can answer: can the Avatar, who has never killed anyone, bring himself to take the Fire Lord's life? That is what he must do, according to Zuko, the Fire Prince who has thrown in his lot with Aang and the latter's friends.

The cases are as varied as ever, and the writing approached in a manner that combines the best aspects of being responsible to the facts and science of each endeavor, yet maintains the right amount of dramatic license to keep things moving in a believable manner. If you've been following the series, you already know this, if you let it go for perhaps some of the same reasons I nearly gave up on it, then Season 9 is worth looking at and renewing your acquaintance with this terrific show. If you're new to CSI, I do strongly recommend starting at the beginning but you could certainly watch season 9 on its own and enjoy it a great deal.
